Nashville Artists Celebrate America’s 250th Anniversary with New Music
Reflecting on America’s 250th anniversary, it’s hard to overlook the vital roles that art, culture, and storytelling play. As part of a unique project, a selection of Nashville’s gifted songwriters and artists were invited to create original songs that express their feelings about the nation. The acoustic performance featured marks both the debut of these new works and the first time they’ve been performed by their creators. In collaboration with SiriusXM, a special broadcast of these songs is set to air around July 4th. This initiative is being touted as the “American Soundtrack.”
Bridget Tatum, a dynamic singer-songwriter, has a presence that’s unmistakable. You walk into a room with her, and it’s clear she fully claims it. Fresh from touring with Trisha Yearwood, she brings a vibrant energy that seems limitless, proudly identifying herself as “red, white, and blue all the way.”
Tatum isn’t just a talented performer; she’s also a songwriter who’s crafted hits for artists like Gretchen Wilson and Trisha Yearwood. One of her noteworthy contributions was a song that topped country radio charts. Known for her impressive guitar skills, she captivates audiences with each performance. Beyond music, she’s involved in production and actively supports charitable causes across Middle Tennessee, embodying a true sense of American spirit.
For this project, Tatum expressed her enthusiasm in participating in the “American Soundtrack.” She brought along fellow songwriters Kim Pentz and John Caldwell, who collaborated to create a song titled “Country Sea, Country Do.” This track encapsulates a gritty, authentic vibe that resonates with the American experience. Tatum shared how the song draws from her roots, reflecting on the hard work of her family.
“This song is really something special,” Tatum noted. “Its performance and lyrics truly capture what we’re celebrating—America’s 250th birthday. It’s hard to find anyone who embodies honesty and strength more than she does.” The celebration clearly resonates deeply with her.

The heart of their songs is woven into the very fabric of their experiences, speaking to where they come from and their commitment to honoring that legacy. As Tatum suggests, this isn’t just about music; it’s a profound connection to family, land, and history that defines a unique narrative of resilience and pride.
As the celebration continues, the artists remain authentically connected to their roots—celebrating not just America but their personal histories intertwined with its journey. It’s a beautiful tapestry of stories that represent the rich, diverse experiences found across the nation.
