In honor of America’s 250th birthday, New York is set to showcase an unprecedented number of fireworks this year.

Macy’s is elevating its usual Independence Day fireworks display, typically launched from the Hudson or East Rivers, to new heights. A staggering 85,000 shells will be set off from both rivers this year.

“We are thrilled to commemorate our 50th anniversary with a unique experience that shares powerful stories and spectacular visuals, bringing people together from all corners of the nation,” said Macy’s chief marketing officer, Sharon Otterman, in a statement.
