Paul Pelosi has a background of car accidents, including one that resulted in his brother's death.

Paul Pelosi, husband of Nancy Pelosi, is dealing with hit-and-run charges after he reportedly crashed his convertible into a parked vehicle in Napa County. This incident adds to a troubling history, including a fatal accident involving his brother many years ago.

The 86-year-old businessman from San Francisco, married to the former House Speaker for over six decades, was previously arrested for DUI following another incident in Napa County back in May 2022.

On that occasion, after dining with a longtime Democratic donor in Oakville, Pelosi, then 82, got into his black 2021 Porsche 911 around 10 p.m. and drove home, which was six miles away in Napa Valley.

While crossing State Route 29, his vehicle was hit by a Jeep. His blood alcohol content was reported at 0.082%, leading him to plead guilty to a misdemeanor DUI charge that caused injury.

According to a report from The New York Times, Pelosi had recently undergone cataract surgery, raising questions about whether that influenced the accident.

In August 2022, he was sentenced to five days in jail, fined $6,800, required to complete a DUI program, and placed on three years’ probation.

Reflecting back to 1957, when he was 16, Pelosi was involved in another tragic incident that led to the death of his older brother, David. They were driving near San Mateo when Paul lost control of the car and it flipped over. A police officer mentioned that David had urged him to slow down before the crash.

This horrific accident happened early one morning in February when the siblings decided to take a joyride instead of heading home. The car flipped and landed on the side of the road.

David was unfortunately killed due to injuries sustained from a neck brace, while Paul was trapped but managed to call for assistance.

Although he faced a misdemeanor manslaughter charge, a coroner’s jury ultimately ruled him not guilty.

In addition to these serious incidents, Pelosi had two minor violations on his record back in 2011, including running a red light and crossing the center line.
