NYPD warns airport travelers to prepare for additional delays due to protests by Hamas sympathizers

The New York Police Department Warning New York travelers Get to the airport early as the city braces for a new wave of disruption from protesters sympathetic to the terrorist organization Hamas.

The NYPD issued multiple warnings from various agencies about the expected impact of the protests.

In one post, the NYPD's 106th Precinct warned of expected protests and “community disruption” at JFK Airport. The post promised “increased police presence” in the area.

The New York City Police Department's transportation commissioner also urged travelers departing from JFK to “make plans to get to the airport in advance. There are protests planned today and delays may occur.” he warned.

Protesters have blocked roads since Hamas massacred and kidnapped hundreds of Israeli citizens on October 7 as a way to urge the United States to stop supporting Israel's Hamas counterattack. Although the protests are ostensibly calling for a “ceasefire,” they do not demand that Hamas stop firing rockets at Israel or that the civilian hostages taken from Israel be returned in gross violation of international law. .

In recent weeks, these protests have increasingly sought to disrupt access to U.S. airports. Last week, large-scale protests wreaked havoc at New York's JFK Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. Many New Yorkers responded to the protests by abandoning their cars and walking to the airport to catch holiday flights. Passengers faced massive delays in Los Angeles, and protesters assaulted at least one police officer and harassed numerous motorists who had no involvement in the Gaza conflict. Los Angeles Police Department ultimately arrested 35 people as part of the protests.
