This may be a new year, but President Joe Biden faces the same bad news about his re-election prospects.
a New USA Today/Suffolk University Poll They found that Mr. Biden is gaining support among Hispanic voters, black voters, and young voters — three groups critical to winning the 2020 election.
In 2020, Biden won the Hispanic vote by 33 points, 65% to 32%, over Donald Trump. But new polls show Biden I'm backing up now Trump is favored among Hispanic voters by a 5-point margin, 39% to 34%.
Additionally, the poll found that Biden's support among black voters has declined by a whopping 24 points. Biden won 87% of the black vote in 2020, but now only 63% of black voters support him. Meanwhile, Trump had 12% support among black voters in the poll, the same level of support he received in the 2020 election.
Among voters under 35, Trump leads Biden by 4 points, 37% to 33%, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll.
These results, announced just 10 months before the election, are surprising. The influence lies in the fact that each of these voter groups traditionally makes up a significant portion of the Democratic Party's voter base. Trump's lead over Biden in two of those groups shows how unpopular Biden is as a candidate.
USA Today tried to soften this effect. claim The “probably good news” for Biden is that his decline in support “has shifted to third-party candidates” rather than Trump.
But that may not be the case, according to David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk Center for Political Research.
“While Trump hasn't grown support among black voters, the deficit has closed as third-party voters have moved away from Biden's support among blacks,” Paleologos said. Said USA Today. “If young voters and people of color vote for a 'third party,' that's one vote away from President Biden, and one vote away from President Biden is a vote for Donald Trump.”
Major polls currently show Trump leading Biden by an average of 2.3 percentage points. According to RealClearPolitics.he Never led Biden. In preparation for the 2020 election.
