Trump Criticizes “60 Minutes” Interview over Reading Alleged Shooter’s Manifesto
President Donald Trump has expressed his disapproval of a “60 Minutes” segment where reporter Norah O’Donnell read excerpts from the alleged manifesto of a person suspected of trying to assassinate him. The interview aired on Sunday, and Trump was particularly vocal about O’Donnell’s decision to quote the document.
During the exchange, Trump commented, “Did you read some words from a sick person?” suggesting that he felt dragged into a situation where he played no role. He insisted he was innocent and had no connection to the incident.
O’Donnell referenced a specific part of the manifesto that mentioned government officials as targets and included a statement about not allowing certain criminals to tarnish his reputation. “What’s your reaction to that?” she asked.
In response, Trump accused the media of being “terrible people” for discussing the manifesto, reiterating his own innocence and denying any allegations against him. “I haven’t raped anyone,” he stated, clearly frustrated.
When O’Donnell pressed whether he thought the shooter might have been referring to him, Trump interrupted, asserting, “I’m sorry, I’m not a pedophile.” He further criticized the segment for airing such content, saying that O’Donnell should feel ashamed for reading it aloud.
Trump ended the interview abruptly, declaring, “You’re a disgrace.” A video of their interaction circulated on social media, drawing significant attention and criticism toward O’Donnell.
Additionally, the alleged shooter is reported to have left behind a substantial digital footprint filled with anti-Trump sentiments and threats directed at the former president and his administration.
In the wake of the shooting incident, Trump is advocating for the construction of a new White House ballroom, claiming it would offer superior security in comparison to the Washington Hilton where the event occurred.
