Victims of Michigan home explosion identified as 4 Arkansans visiting family

On Tuesday, four members of an Arkansas family were publicly identified as victims of a deadly weekend house explosion in Michigan.

Officials said Saturday's explosion was likely caused by flammable fuel in the air and was not the result of foul play.

According to the Northfield Township Police Department, the deceased were Hope Bragg, 51, her husband Don Bragg, 53, and their children Kenneth Bragg, 22, and Elizabeth Bragg. Bragg, 19, both of Monticello, Arkansas, were identified.

The explosion occurred at the home of Hope Bragg's father, Richard Pruden, 72, who remains in critical condition. Stephen Bragg, 16, is in stable condition.

The explosion destroyed a home about 45 miles west of Detroit. Lt. David Powell said the Braggs were on vacation in Michigan.

“I've never seen anything like this,” Powell said of the damage.

According to their LinkedIn pages, Hope Bragg is an instructor at the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, and Don Bragg worked as a research forester with the U.S. Forest Service.
