Tucson-area agents arrested nearly 80,000 immigrants in December, breaking the previous record of 76,245 immigrant arrests set in March 2000. Agents in the Del Rio area also broke records just over a year ago, arresting about 71,000 immigrants.

The previous record for immigrant arrests in the Tucson area was set in March 2000, when agents encountered 76,245 immigrants, according to U.S. Border Patrol Encounter Reports. Approximately 80,000 migrants were reported in December, exceeding that record by nearly 5 percent.
The previous record for the Del Rio area was set in August 2022, when agents arrested 52,735 immigrants. The arrests of more than 71,000 immigrants in December surpassed that record by nearly 35 percent.
Officials at nine border regions in the Southeast apprehended a total of nearly 250,000 migrants in December, according to unofficial Border Patrol reports reviewed by Breitbart Texas. This is about 4.5 percent higher than the Southwest Border Patrol record of 239,289 migrants the Border Patrol recorded in September 2023, according to the report.
