Kristi Noem Joins Chorus Opposing Nikki Haley as Trump’s Vice President Pick

Gov. Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota) on Tuesday pulled former Gov. Nikki Haley from being former President Donald Trump's running mate.

The South Dakota governor is the latest conservative to publicly oppose Haley's bid for vice president.

  • donald trump jr.: “If it were me, I wouldn't have had a girlfriend, and I'm going to do whatever it takes to make sure that doesn't happen.”
  • Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA): “MAGA would revolt if Nikki Haley was even given an internship in the incoming Trump administration.”

Haley is a Republican presidential candidate who has a lead of more than 50 points over Trump in public opinion polls, and is one of the leading candidates to be Trump's running mate. Because of her views on foreign policy, free speech, government spending, and social policy, many conservatives believe that Haley opposes America First policies.

  • “Everyone on social media should be authenticated by name,” he said.
  • I believe in securing Ukraine's borders with American taxpayer funds.
  • He called on the government not to intervene if parents decide to have their children undergo irreversible, life-altering “transgender” surgery.
  • support import of immigrants Jobs that would otherwise go to higher-paying Americans.

“[I]If he chose her, I would tell him I disagree, but in that case I would support that ticket because he is still the president and the president still makes decisions.” Noem told Newsmax. “You know, I've had a lot of disagreements with Nikki Haley over the years, but you never know which Nikki Haley will show up every day. Depending on what you do, you become a different person.”

“So what I love about President Trump, and what the American people love about President Trump, is that he's just being himself, he's just being authentic. He speaks the truth, he speaks for the people. Just ordinary people who stand up and fight every day,” Noem added. “He has no reason to do this job other than the fact that he truly believes in America, and he wants to put people out there who get up every day and go to work. He puts them first. I want to.”

Trump exclusively told Breitbart News that his choice of vice president won't make much of a difference in his grand plans for the 2024 election.

“If you look at the history of presidential elections, the vice president has never made a difference. This is surprising,” Trump Breitbart News. “This is the story of one night, but then they go back to their usual night. They're voting for president. They're not voting for vice president. And as far as I can think of, in terms of nominations, too. None of the vice presidents made a huge difference in terms of electoral victory or even electoral victory.”

In addition to Noem, conservatives expected to be considered include:

  • Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY)
  • Senator J.D. Vance (R-OH)
  • Congressman Byron Donald (R-FL)
  • Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN)
  • Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina)
