Ron DeSantis is still following Donald Trump's lead.

Recent polls show Donald Trump still has a commanding lead in Iowa.

Newsweek magazine reported:

Although Haley has made profits, she still appears to be far behind her former boss at Iowa State. The latest polls all have Mr. Trump leading his Republican rival by more than 30 points, and in one of the latest polls even Mr. DeSantis has a narrow lead over Mr. Trump.

In a poll conducted by Insider Advantage on December 18th and 19th, Trump was approved by 49% of respondents, compared to 17% for the former South Carolina governor. DeSantis was tied with Haley at 17% in the same poll. The survey included 850 likely Iowa voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.36 percentage points.

A separate Beacon Research/Shaw & Company Research poll conducted for Fox Business from Dec. 14 to 18 found Trump at 52% and Haley at 16%. The poll showed DeSantis narrowly ahead of Haley, with 18% support. The survey included 804 likely Iowa voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

An Emerson College poll conducted Dec. 15-17 found similar results. Trump was supported by 50% of respondents, compared to 17% for Haley and 15% for DeSantis. The poll included 420 likely voters and had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.

A new report claims that Ron DeSantis could resign and support Donald Trump if he loses in Iowa.

The Daily Mail reported:

Ron DeSantis will drop out of the 2024 presidential race if he loses to Donald Trump in the Iowa caucuses on January 15, it has been claimed.

Two well-informed sources in the DeSantis campaign, a major donor and a high-ranking political operative, told The Hill that if the Florida governor loses to former President Donald Trump on January 15, he will no longer be in the race. He said it was likely that he would withdraw completely.

The announcement, which will be made either that evening or the next morning, will force Mr. Trump and the governor to reluctantly abandon their planned trip to New Hampshire on January 23rd.

He entered the race with very high hopes, but has struggled to gain support against Trump.
