Max Homa naming Ryder Cup rival as PGA Tour most underrated goes viral

Max Homa is as authentic as it gets. He is the king of his Twitter and knows how to stir up controversy.

CBS Sports golf reporter Kyle Porter loves to ask fascinating questions on Twitter, and sometimes the answers come out great. His latest question is who most underrated golfer The world is now.

Mr. Homa gave the obvious answer, naming a name that might surprise some people.

“The answer is Tyrrell Hatton,” Homa wrote.

The five-word response received nearly 1 million views on Twitter, with many views exchanged with Homa.

The confidence exuding from his tweet showed how serious he was about his answer. Hutton is extremely talented and Homa gives credit where credit is due.

Last week, the British player shot an 11-under 62 in the second round of Sentry. He also dropped an epic F-bomb that was caught by a hot mic after a bad shot. At this point, people know that Hutton has moments of rage – that's just the kind of person he is.

During the Ryder Cup this fall, Homa saw firsthand what Hatton can bring. While he developed a relationship with Brian Herman, they helped Hatton improve to a 3-0-1 record and helped Team Europe easily defeat the Americans 16.5 to 11.5.

Despite having just one win on the PGA Tour, the 32-year-old British player is ranked 14th in the world. It's hard to believe that the 14th-ranked player in the world has only one win on tour.

Last year, the 32-year-old made 20 of 21 cuts. He had one runner-up finish, seven top-10s and 13 top-25s. Hatton earned $8,336,912 in the FedEx Cup race and finished 16th.

Since turning professional in 2011, the former Arnold Palmer Invitational winner has six international championships, three runner-up finishes, five third places, 15 top fives, and 32 top 10s. are recorded.

But Homa sees his potential, and his tweet indicates Hatton's second PGA Tour win could be delayed. Perhaps that will happen this week at the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.
