Fani Willis subpoenaed in Trump prosecutor’s divorce case — as it emerges he wasn’t even approved by board

Embattled district attorney Fani Willis has been subpoenaed to testify in the divorce case of the special counsel in charge of Trump's election interference case, accused of having an “inappropriate relationship” with him. has been done.

Additionally, it was revealed that attorney Nathan Wade was not even approved by the relevant commission before being hired by the Willis family, which covers Fulton County, Georgia.

Willis hired Atlanta-based private attorney Nathan Wade to serve as special prosecutor for Trump and 18 of his associates over their alleged conduct after the 2020 presidential election.

Even though Wade had no experience prosecuting the complex Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO). As with the case against Trump, he was handed a contract that has so far cost the company more than $650,000 in legal fees from prosecutors.

The deal began on November 1, 2021, and the next day Wade filed for divorce from his wife of 26 years, Joycelyn Wade, but the case has not yet been resolved.

According to court filings obtained by the newspaper, Willis received a subpoena through an assistant in his downtown Atlanta office on Monday, in which he received a subpoena from an assistant at his office in downtown Atlanta, in which he received a subpoena from Wade and his estranged wife, with whom he has two adult children. I was asked to testify in a divorce case.

The subpoena comes from a lawyer for former Trump campaign official and co-defendant in the election interference case, Mike Roman, who accuses Willis and Wade of “improper confidential personal relationships during the pendency of this case.” It was served hours before filing the complaint.

Although the filing offered no evidence of a relationship, “sources close to both the special prosecutor and the district attorney” claimed to have confirmed that Willis and Wade are still romantically involved.

“Furthermore, the District Attorney and the Special Prosecutor have been seen together in private (in the capacity of a personal relationship) in and around the Atlanta area, and have been seen together in some way in locations not owned by either of them. It is believed that he was living there,” the filing alleges.

The lawsuit further alleges that the alleged relationship between Willis and Wade “allowed the special prosecutor, and by extension the district attorney, to profit greatly from this prosecution at the expense of taxpayers.”

The filing also alleges that the two traveled to Napa Valley, Florida and the Caribbean, enjoying cruises at Wade's expense with Norwegian Cruise Lines and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

“Because Wade has been paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to prosecute this case on her behalf, Willis has and continues to benefit substantially and directly from this case. ” the motion states.

“He will continue to be prompted to prosecute this case based on personal and financial motives, so he has acquired a unique personal interest or stake in the continued prosecution of Mr. Roman. So Mr. Roman will continue to make exorbitant amounts of money, so he wants to prosecute for as long as possible.”

Georgia law requires the district attorney to obtain approval from Fulton County before appointing a special prosecutor to handle the case, but the motion says the district attorney failed to do so.

“The undersigned attorneys have found no evidence that the District Attorney sought or received any such approval to appoint a special prosecutor for Fulton County,” it reads.

“This is more than just a technicality. This is a requirement that the Georgia Supreme Court has determined must be followed when special prosecutors are appointed, and therefore requires a special prosecutor in every case, including this one.” This is a prerequisite for government efforts.

Willis said in a December interview. AP

“A public records request to Fulton County reveals that the district attorney did not receive county approval for the appointment of a special prosecutor.”

Roman, who served as election day operations manager for Trump's 2020 re-election campaign, argued in a court filing that Willis should be disbarred from the case and the charges against him and all other defendants should be dropped. .

Mr. Trump and Mr. Roman faced racketeering charges under Georgia's RICO law in the case against Mr. Willis and other co-defendants.

Following the former president's loss in 2020, Roman has joined forces with pro-Trump allies to reject President-elect Joe Biden's victory in key battleground states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Nevada. He is said to have participated in an effort to nominate “fake elector” candidates.

He was indicted on seven felonies last August by a Georgia grand jury convened by Willis.

Wade, his estranged wife, the Fulton County Attorney's Office and the White House did not immediately respond to The Post's requests for comment.
