Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman has revealed why she has never tried method acting, claiming it is a “luxury that women cannot afford”.
The “Black Swan” and “Star Wars” star told The Wall Street Journal in a recent interview that although he takes the role very seriously, he doesn't want to take liberties because his normal life gets in the way. He said he has not been able to act.
“I really fell in love with the role, but to be honest, I don't think it's a luxury that many women can afford. My children and my partner don't really understand that I have everyone call me 'Jackie Kennedy.' “I think always,” Portman said, referring to her role in the 2016 film “Jackie,” about the famous first lady.

Method acting is a technique in which actors aim to completely identify with the character they are playing. Famous method actors like Oscar winners Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto are so immersed in their roles that they often act out their roles when they're not filming or rehearsing.
Portman, whose latest film “May December'' is currently streaming on Netflix, has been doing a lot of stretching for her role, including taking ballet lessons and going on a serious diet in preparation for “Black Swan.'' He said that he has always separated himself from his roles. I played while I was playing.
Actress Carey Mulligan recently explained that she thoroughly adopted techniques for her role in the Netflix film Maestro, about American composer Leonard Bernstein, played by Bradley Cooper.
Mulligan, who plays Bernstein's wife Felicia Montealegre, claimed that Cooper really encouraged her to use this technique.
she told Variety“Part of me as an actor always felt like, 'Well, I'll never be the kind of actor who retains dialect between takes.' Part of me was a little reserved. There was a part of me or maybe I was nervous about fully committing to something. But basically, that's what Bradley asked at the beginning of the process.”

She went on to explain his request: “He was like, 'If I'm going to do this, I've got to do it completely and completely.'” When he said that, I thought, “Okay, I'm going to do absolutely everything.” I'm going to do all the research, I'm going to do all the dialect stuff, I'm going to do everything so that when I get on set, I feel like I'm 100% on stage and I'm like, 'I don't remember what happened.' I have this feeling. ”
Her Maestro co-star is also known for her method acting, staying in character throughout her various productions even when the cameras are off.
Not all big names in the industry appreciate this technique. Some, like actor Mads Mikkelsen, have scrapped it. In 2022, a Danish actor called method acting “exaggerated.”
