A Kentucky high school student started a TikTok trend by creating a prayer wall to encourage himself and other students.
“Our school and middle school have struggled with suicide,” said Whitley County High School student Sophie Jones. WKYT-TV. “And a lot of people are struggling with their mental health.”
according to face wire, Jones started the prayer wall after seeing a popular trend on TikTok. She said the wall was built to “spread the word of God” and encourage others.
She said most of the Bible verses written on sticky notes on the walls of the women's bathroom were personally helpful.
“God saved me,” she told local news outlets.
“People can simply write down a Bible verse, for example 'Jesus loves you,' and they can take it with them if they want to keep it as a note, or repost something else. ” she explained. “They might pick up that verse and say they want to read it. Or they have a Chromebook at school so they can Google that verse.”
She started doing some kind of service at the end of last year and is already having a positive impact.
“This past year, my love for the Lord has saved me more and more. My message is to spread His word,” Jones said. I have written on Facebook last month.
“I have installed prayer sinks, walls, or mirrors in every bathroom. People can write Bible quotes, messages, and prayers in each spot. I would like to spread this to more schools I also hope that people will understand how much Jesus loves us.
Evelyn Philpott, one of Jones' classmates and friends, helped set up the prayer wall.
“The other day I saw a young female student holding a yellow sticky note with a Bible verse that we had written on it, and it was great to know that this is something people love and love. , it was a really happy day.'It's actually helping them,'' Philpott said.
Both students are members of First Priority, a student-led Christian organization with a Whitley County High School chapter.
Todd Lawson, the organization's director, told the magazine he was proud of the two girls who built the prayer wall.
“Through prayer and God, that's the only answer we got. That's our only hope,” he said. “I may feel unimportant at home, I may feel unimportant to my teachers, I may not feel important to anyone else, but God loves us. There is nothing more important than that.”
“Prayer for me just makes me feel loved,” Jones added.
Both girls are graduating this year, but they hope the prayer wall will continue to grow and encourage new students.
