Hamas, Under Qatari Pressure, Agrees to Let Israel Send Medicine to Hostages

Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas has agreed to allow Israel to transfer life-saving medicine to Israeli hostages in the Gaza Strip in a deal brokered by Qatar. In return, Israel agreed to increase medical aid to Gaza, presumably to the benefit of Hamas.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced on Friday night:

At the direction of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mossad chief David Balnea has approached Qatar with a plan to deliver desperately needed medical supplies to hostages held in Gaza by the terrorist group Hamas. This effort is part of Israel's humanitarian assistance mechanism for the Gaza Strip. The medicine is expected to arrive within a few days.

era of israel report:

As part of an agreement brokered by Qatar with Hamas, Israel has agreed to expand the flow of medical supplies into Gaza for Palestinians as part of its humanitarian aid program, with Israel expecting medical supplies to be handed over to the hostages in the coming days. officials told The Times of Israel.

Negotiations were complicated because Hamas did not want the delivery of medical supplies to the hostages to reveal to Israel exactly where they were being held, officials said.

The official said Israel had been pushing for the delivery of medical supplies to Hamas from the beginning, but that Hamas had refused to cooperate until this week. The terrorist organization caved in under increasing pressure from Qatar, officials said.

Israelis have criticized the Red Cross for refusing to do enough to transfer medical supplies to the more than 120 Israeli hostages still being held in the Gaza Strip.
