Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis predicted Monday that Iowa Republicans “will do well” when they enter the state's caucuses.
DeSantis appeared on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream and claimed that he and his campaign have done more than any other candidate. Recent polls place DeSantis in third place behind former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and former President Trump.
“Do we need to be second here at Iowa?” Bream asked.
“We're going to be fine,” DeSantis responded. “I appreciate being the underdog…I do better in those situations, and I think I have a record of doing well as an underdog. We're going to do well.” And I'm looking forward to the next contest.”

“We've been working hard. We've done a great job. I think Monday will be the critical moment. Once people actually start voting, I think it will help change things,” he added. . “No candidate has worked harder…Iowans realize, you don't just deserve to be nominated. You don't just swoop in and win the crown. You earn it. We had to, and we earned it.” ”
But Iowa voters will have to brave the bitter cold to participate in Monday's caucuses, with temperatures forecast to be well below freezing in many parts of the state.

DeSantis' support appears to have declined in recent weeks, with Haley emerging as the No. 2 candidate in the race, according to multiple polls. Nevertheless, DeSantis and his campaign have invested enormous resources in Iowa, and DeSantis himself has visited every county in the state.
