Biden marks day 100 of captivity for hostages in Gaza: ‘Tragic milestone’

As hundreds of hostages held by the terrorist organization Hamas reach the devastating 100th day of their captivity in the Gaza Strip, President Biden issues a statement praising the freedom of the hostages. He vowed to continue his efforts to ensure this.

“Today, we reach a devastating and tragic milestone: the 100-day captivity of more than 100 innocent people, including six Americans, still held hostage by Hamas in the Gaza Strip,” President Biden said. ” he said.

He added in a press release that since Hamas brutally attacked Israel on October 7, the administration has pursued aggressive diplomacy to bring the hostages home.

“For 100 days, they lived in fear for their lives, not knowing what would happen tomorrow. For 100 days, families lived in pain, praying for the safe return of their loved ones. Day after day, hostages and their families have been on my front lines as a national security team, working tirelessly to secure their freedom,” Biden said.

Abu Obeidah, a spokesman for the Hamas militant group Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, said in his first television appearance in weeks that many of the hostages “could have been killed” and that their fate was in the hands of Israel. It was reported that he said it was because of Jerusalem Post.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said last week that rescuing the hostages could take months, even though the military has made significant progress in gaining operational control of northern Gaza.
