Biden fundraises off Trump’s Iowa win: ‘He’s the clear front runner’

President Biden on Monday night called on his supporters to donate to his campaign following former President Donald Trump's victory in Iowa.

“It looks like Donald Trump won Iowa. He's the clear front-runner on the other side at this point,” Biden wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“But the thing is, this election is always going to be a battle of you and me versus extreme MAGA Republicans. It was true yesterday and it will be true tomorrow,” Biden wrote on the fundraising page. I added a link to it.

News outlets called on Iowans to support Trump about 30 minutes after the caucuses officially began. With more than 90% of the votes cast, Trump won about 50% of the vote, giving him a wide lead over his closest rivals.

2024 election coverage

Polls in other early primary states, including New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada, also show Trump with a lead.

In his first campaign speech of 2024, Biden cited Trump's refusal to accept the 2020 election results, his refusal to condemn political violence and his vow to take revenge if reelected. He warned that Trump poses a grave threat to American democracy.

Speaking to supporters in Des Moines on Monday night, President Trump denounced Biden as “the worst president in the history of our country.”
