An attempted robbery at a pot store in Washington state was thwarted after a nearby business owner confronted the robbers and sprayed one of the suspects with bear spray, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies were called to a robbery at a marijuana store in Evert around 3 a.m. Monday.
Surveillance video showed three Kias entering the store's parking lot.
The driver of one of the vehicles drove into the side of the store and attempted to gain entry.
Officials said a man working at a store behind the pot shop heard the commotion, discovered a robbery in progress and used bear spray on at least one suspect.
The owner of marijuana store Marijuana 99 also told Fox 13 in Seattle that he, too, keeps bear spray on hand and has had to use it before, but this was the last time his store was broken into during an attempted robbery. He said it was his first time.
Deputies added that the vehicle involved in the attempted robbery also appears to have been stolen.
No arrests have been made at this time, according to deputies.
