North Carolina police chief ousted after asking for nude photos of captain’s wife: report

New details have emerged regarding the October firing of the North Carolina police chief. The chief reportedly asked the chief's wife for nude photos on Snapchat, among other misconduct.

Mars Hill Mayor Nathan Bennett told the News-Record and Sentinel that the woman did not provide a photo despite two requests.

“Your actions in pursuing a romantic relationship with the wife of a subordinate officer are reprehensible. Actively soliciting that relationship is unacceptable and will harm your entire department and the town of Mars Hill. ,” Bennett wrote in an October paper. 16 letters addressed to Clark.

The inspector provided Bennett with screenshots of messages Clark sent to his wife, and Bennett called for an independent investigation into the former police chief's conduct at the department, the News Record and Sentinel reported. The paper reported.

According to the newspaper, Clark admitted sending the messages when he confronted Bennett.

Bennett added that he had “no choice” but to fire the former police chief for his dishonesty with Clark and investigators.

“Your disobedience to me by immediately leaving my office and attempting to contact members of your department and the victims of your misconduct is blatant,” Bennett continued.

The mayor also criticized Mr. Clark's “handling of firearms” in his office, saying that even though the gun was unloaded, the gun was “unlocked and contrary to all notions of gun safety.” Clark said he was using his car for personal use. What the town provides for the police's official duties.
