A 64-year-old Illinois man is facing criminal charges in Florida for allegedly plotting to kill his former business partner with a crossbow and arrow, authorities said.

Prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri announced in a press release that Ben Patrick Mullaby, 64, has offered up to $10,000 in restitution on the murder charge.

According to the affidavit, Malabay said her partner owed her $200,000 and that her legal process to get that money back was unsuccessful.

Authorities said Mullaby tried to hire a man to carry out the murder and drove to Sikeston, Missouri, to discuss the plan.
