The families of three men found dead outside a Kansas City home are… demand an answer after police indicated there was no sign of criminal activity.
The three friends, all in their 30s, had reportedly gathered at their homes in suburban Northland on January 7 to watch an NFL football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.
After not hearing from any of the trio or the owner of the house where they were meeting, the family began to worry. Two days later, on Tuesday, the fiancée of one of the men visited the home and broke in to get inside when no one answered the door.
She reportedly found the body in her backyard and called police.
During the investigation, Kansas City police also found the bodies of two other men in the home.
The homeowner told police that the subzero temperatures in the area were responsible for the three deaths.
Police confirmed to NewsNation that they are not investigating the death as a homicide. That means no evidence of criminal activity has yet been found.
Jennifer Marquez, the mother of victim David Harrington, 37, said the men's families were furious.
“I'm furious. Everyone is furious,” she said. “No one believes this story. None of his friends, none of his family, none of us believe it.”
The other victims were identified as 38-year-old Ricky Johnson and 36-year-old Clayton McGeeney. According to police, the two bodies were found in the backyard of the house.
Police said they are awaiting cause of death results from the coroner's office. No arrests have been made and the homeowner is cooperating with the investigation.
Marquez said her family will never be the same now that her son is gone.
“It's a huge loss. He's everything,” she said. “He is a brother and he has a sister and a brother. They miss him and his heart is broken. They will never see their brother again.”
