Flight attendant announces man is cancer-free after wife slips her note

Make memories before the trip even begins!

A woman surprised her husband during their honeymoon to Jamaica by leaving a note to the flight attendant informing him that he was recently cancer-free.

Hayley Rubel, 22, of Toronto, captured the heartwarming moment on social media moments after flight attendants gave passengers a pre-flight briefing. Video posted on TikTok show.

Rubel and her husband were sitting next to each other, but seconds before the sweet surprise on January 6, she gently grabbed his arm and placed the phone in front of them.

“A young man named Josh who was on this plane was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in June 2020. Since then, he has undergone chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and treatment that affected his entire right lung, thymus gland, and heart. “I had surgery to remove part of my diaphragm, the inner layer of my diaphragm,” the flight attendant said over the intercom.

“He was put on life support twice and was in and out of the hospital for years. He fought for his life and is now cancer-free and on his way to his honeymoon in Jamaica.” The flight attendant went on to encourage passengers to cheer for Josh before being told to do so.

“I was just going to ask you to join me in giving Josh a big round of applause!” the flight attendant joked, noticing everyone was already cheering.

In the video's caption, Louvel revealed to viewers that she was able to secretly write a note to the flight attendant requesting a surprise announcement for her husband.

The memo was not provided on video, but Louvel revealed the contents of the letter in an interview with People.

“Hello!!! I wanted to see if there was a possibility that you could read this on speaker?” The memo provided by People says: “Maybe near the start of the flight we could have our phones ready to take a video so we can both make sure we don't have our headphones on yet? Thanks!!!”

According to People, Hailey revealed that her honeymoon with Josh has been postponed three times since he was diagnosed in June 2020.
