Sununu rips Scott after Trump endorsement: ‘Nobody’ thinks he will unite the country

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu (R) said that Sen. Tim Scott (R.C.) supported former President Trump and said the country needed a president who would “unite the country.” accused again.

“Tim Scott actually said on camera, 'Donald Trump will unite the country.' Even Donald Trump doesn't believe that statement.” Sununu said. Neil Kabuto, anchor of Saturday's FOX News. “So no one thinks Donald Trump unified the country.”

Mr. Scott, who suspended his bid for the White House in November, endorsed Mr. Trump during a rally in New Hampshire on Friday, days before the nation's first Republican primary. Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has endorsed Sununu, leading to speculation about who Scott will support.

Sununu argued that the South Carolina senator should have given her support, arguing that without her, Haley “would have no job.”

Governor Granite reiterated that message Saturday, saying he felt Scott's choice to support the former president was “more of a disrespect than anything else.”

“So the fact that they want Donald Trump back doesn't give them real leadership, doesn't really hold them accountable, and Nikki Haley will do that.” ” he said. “Nikki Haley will demand more from Republicans in the U.S. Senate.”

Sununu told Kabuto that while he didn't think Trump would unite the country, he would support the former president in the general election if he became the Republican nominee. He made a similar pledge earlier this month, saying he would support whoever challenges Mr. Biden in November.

The New Hampshire primary, the second round of the 2024 election season, is scheduled for Tuesday, January 23rd.

According to The Hill/Decision Desk Headquarters polling average, Trump leads with 45.6 percent support, while Haley is second with 35 percent. Haley has made significant strides in the state thanks to Sununu's endorsement and some strong debate performances.
