Caitlin Clark collides with Ohio State court-stormer in scary scene

On Sunday, disaster nearly struck Caitlin Clark and the Iowa Hawkeyes in a frightening scene.

After No. 18 Ohio State defeated No. 2 Iowa State 100-92 in overtime in Columbus, Buckeyes fans stormed the court to celebrate the victory.

During the chaos, Clark and a fan clashed violently, causing the best player in women's college basketball to fall to the court.

Several people went to check on Clark after the crash, but luckily he told reporters after the incident that he was okay.

“It was a little scary,” Clark told reporters after the game. “I had a pretty serious injury and almost knocked the wind out of me, but luckily my teammates picked me up and carried me off the court.”

Clark said Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith later apologized to her.

Clark scored a season-high 45 points in Iowa's second loss of the season, making 12-of-25 shooting with seven assists, three rebounds, two steals, one block and seven turnovers.

The Hawkeyes had won 15 straight games before Sunday's loss. Their only other loss was a home game against Kansas State on Nov. 16.

Clark leads the nation in points with 31 points per game, with 5.1 made 3-pointers per game, and is second in assists with 7.7.

Clark is widely expected to be selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft in April.
