Former President Donald Trump on Sunday defended his nomination rival, former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-South Carolina), for calling him a “nimbla” in an interview with Fox News.
Anchor Bret Baier said, “She says you're using a nickname based on her real name, Nimirata. You called her Nimbla in a post the other day. Why do you do that?” ?”
President Trump said, “I'm doing the same thing as a lot of people like Asa Hutchinson. I mean, he was zero in the polls for about a year, so I called him Ada Hutchinson.'' Instead, I called her Ada Hutchinson. And that felt really good to me. And in her case, it just happened. Her name is a little quirky. You know, where's her name? No matter where you’re from.”
He added, “I have a lot of people's names, like Pocahontas.'' She said, “My mother said I looked like an Indian.'' So I started calling her Pocahontas. Some say I'm very good at it. But I can't go into too much depth because many of the people I named are Republicans and we don't want to talk about it. But it's a takeoff. enjoying. And, truth be told, it can be a very effective tool. ”
