A man was stabbed in the back outside an immigrant reprocessing center on the Lower East Side early Sunday morning in what police and law enforcement officials said was the latest act of violence around the city's asylum-seeking sites. .
The victim, whose last known address was in Queens, is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
It was not immediately clear what caused the violence in Manhattan or whether the man who was stabbed or his assailant was an asylum seeker.
The bloodbath occurred around 12:30 a.m., after which the victim took private transportation to the 105th Precinct in Queens, where he finally spotted officers and told them he had been there, leading police to the scene. It was several hours later. Officials said he was stabbed.
The man was then rushed by paramedics to North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset.
Police said the attack occurred during a dispute outside the former St. Brigid Elementary School building on East 7th Street, and no arrests were made.

The site is where migrants who have already grumbled their way through the shelter system can reapply for more free municipal housing.
Three more stabbings have occurred in immigration facilities in just two weeks, an alarming trend that has prompted authorities to install surveillance cameras and use metal detectors.
