Wide Right AGAIN! Bills Fall to Chiefs In Heartbreaking Fashion

Bill fans feel sorry for you guys.

The Buffalo Bills just lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday night when kicker Tyler Bass missed a tying field goal late in the fourth quarter of the AFC playoff game.

After a classic shootout moment with both teams competing for back-and-forth scores, it all came down to the bus.

With his team down by three points, Bass lined it up and fired a kick wide to the right. This was reminiscent of old Bills kicker Scott Norwood, who missed his famous kick to the right side in the 1991 Super Bowl, giving the Bills a kick start as they lost the game. It's a historic fourth straight Super Bowl loss for Buffalo.

January 12, 1991: Buffalo Bills No. 11 kicker Scott Norwood makes a 47-yard field goal in the final minute of regulation during Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants at Tampa Stadium in Tampa, Florida. was removed from the frame. The Giants won the game 20-19.

When the Chiefs got one last first down and running back Isaiah Pacheco broke through the Bills defense to stop the game, the cameras showed Bass hanging his head on the sideline, no doubt carrying the weight of the world on his back. I reflected what I was feeling in my shoulders.

It's especially heartbreaking for Bills fans who thought they were finally ready to celebrate a home victory. But Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, playing his first career road playoff game, won. (RELATED: Electric video showing Jason Kelce totally lost while rooting for his brother)

I really feel for Bass, who put up solid numbers for the Bills over his four-year career. He's already trending on Twitter with the phrases “wide right wing” and “Scott Norwood,” and this debacle will be remembered for years to come.

But he wasn't the only Bill to drop the ball. Early in the quarter, Bills receiver Stefon Diggs, who the Chiefs defense basically shut out, let Josh Allen's bomb slip through his fingers.

I hope the bus takes advantage of this. He's going to have a long offseason thinking about it, and it's likely going to live in his nightmares for the foreseeable future. But America loves a comeback story. I hope we see Bass come back to himself next year.
