Trump says he’ll get DeSantis voters’ support: ‘He fought hard’

Former President Donald Trump hinted in an interview with Fox News that aired Monday that he intends to seek the support of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' voters ahead of the New Hampshire primary.

In an interview with Fox News' Lawrence Jones, President Trump said he was “honored” to have DeSantis' support, noting that the two men had similar platforms.

“I feel like it kind of expands on that in a way, if you can say that, because he and I — you know, I wanted strong borders, he wanted strong borders. I wanted low taxes. I gave you the biggest tax cut in history, the biggest tax cut ever.'' “He wants that more than Ronald Reagan's tax cuts. I want a strong military. wants it. He doesn't want war, I might be a little more like that, but he doesn't want war,” President Trump said Sunday, making the comparison. He himself was with DeSantis. “Wars are happening in places no one has ever heard of before, and we keep losing, you know you're talking about blood and riches, but we're losing so stupidly. And a lot of the things he wanted, I wanted too. In fact, I realized.'' People's commentary often says that all the people who support him will support Trump. ”

“So I was honored that he supported me so quickly. It's not easy. Look, it's not easy. He fought hard, spent a lot of money, and a lot of people thought he was I thought he would do well,” Trump said. Governor of Florida. “You know, you understand, I was in the lead from the beginning, and I did very well in the state of Florida, getting more votes than I ever got in the state of Florida. But he was in good form and I think he did the right thing.

“I think all of those people will come to me,” he said of DeSantis supporters.

In a message announcing his withdrawal from the race on Sunday, DeSantis said, “Trump is better than incumbent Joe Biden. That's clear,” but he also bid farewell to Nikki Haley.

Meanwhile, Haley, who remains in the race against Trump in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, told Fox News about DeSantis' supporters, “I think his supporters have a chance. “Look, his supporters love America, they love America, they want America.” A new generation of leaders. we give it to them. ”

In the interview, Trump said he was “disappointed” when DeSantis first hinted he would run for president in 2024, given that he supported DeSantis in the governor's race. President Trump said of the possibility of naming DeSantis as his running mate or other cabinet members, saying, “Well, it's probably not likely, but to be honest, all the possibilities are there.'' “I think it's very unlikely. I have a lot of possibilities.” They're great people and I've had great people who have been with me from the beginning. ”

Jones also asked Trump if he would consider Haley as a running mate.

“I don't know, I mean, I just can't say, but I don't want to exclude people. There's no reason to exclude people, but I think it's very unlikely. Well, I say this. There's a lot of people on the base, 90, 95% MAGA. There's some RINOs left and they're like, they're on a resuscitator, you know what a resuscitator is? You probably don't know, but they're barely breathing. . So we'll see what happens,” President Trump said. “I think we’re going to have a great Tuesday and get a great result, just like we did at Iowa.”

“I would say against Nikki I didn't do anything. I'm very angry with her. She said, 'I'm never running. He was a great president.' ''I knew she worked for me for about two and a half years, and she was okay, not great, she was okay, but the fact is, when she left, she told everyone. He said, “I will never go against the president.'' He was a great president,'' Trump added.

Trump also went after President Biden, noting that Biden recently admitted to Fox News White House correspondent Jackie Heinrich that he doesn't believe the border is secure.

“Isn't it amazing that Biden has spent three years trying to justify the invasion of our country, the destruction of our country? And you know what? Yesterday, for the first time, I said, I watched this interview. Because, you know, when he stands up to interview people, he doesn't really know where the hell he is, but he actually says, “No, the border is not secure.” “I did,” Trump said. “I couldn't believe it. After 15 million people came into our country, he finally said that. Because the real number is probably – 1500 by the time he finished destroying our country. It's going to be universal, and it's going to be the biggest deportation because we can't — there's no justification, Lawrence. It's not sustainable. It's not a sustainable situation. Our I think it's the worst border in the history of the world. I believe it's the most dangerous border. No country has ever had a border in history, including third world countries and banana republics. No. So, again, this is beyond the third world, okay, it was close to this. This is a disaster for our country.”
