Trump to address NRA members in Pennsylvania

Former President Trump will deliver the keynote address at the National Rifle Association (NRA) Presidential Forum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on February 9, the NRA announced on Monday.

The event will be President Trump's eighth address to NRA members, and the first in Pennsylvania by a Republican presidential candidate this year, according to an NRA press release.

The NRA's statement praised President Trump's accomplishments as president, particularly his appointment of pro-gun judges and Supreme Court justices, and said the NRA “played a pivotal role in landmark Second Amendment decisions.” It further cemented Mr. Trump's legacy as a champion of gun rights.”

The statement also praised President Trump's “personal dedication” to the issue.

“President Trump's unwavering support for the Second Amendment and record of protecting the rights of gun owners make him an exemplary speaker at this momentous event. His NRA members , we can't wait to hear from him for the eighth time,'' NRA President Charles Cotton said in a press release.

The presidential forum, part of the NRA's Great American Outdoor Show, will span nine days and include more than 1,000 “exhibitors,” according to a press release. Last year, 200,000 NRA members attended the event, according to a statement.

The event will be held prior to the South Carolina primary on February 24th and after the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, January 23rd.

The Hill/Decision Desk's average national poll for the Republican primary currently has Trump leading by about 55 points. His approval rating is 66.9%, followed by former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley at 12.1%. The polling average includes polls taken before Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ended his campaign on Sunday, where he had an approval rating of 10.7%.
