MELBOURNE, Australia — Alexander Zverev made no mistake Wednesday night in his second chance to beat No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, taking on two-time finalist Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open semifinals.
The sixth-seeded Zverev got a break in the third set and missed a chance to serve out, but didn't blink an eye the second time and finished 6-1, 6-3, 6-7 (2). Won 6-4.
Wimbledon champion Alcaraz was the only player to beat 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic in a Grand Slam match last year. He won't get a chance in Australia this time.

It was Zverev's first win against a top-five player at a Grand Slam, and he was rewarded with a place in his seventh major semifinal.
