The bodies of six victims were discovered Tuesday in a remote desert area of California, but the details of how they died remain shrouded in mystery.
Five of the bodies were discovered Tuesday around 8:15 p.m. when San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a welfare check in the community of El Mirage.
They are, shocking discovery Along Highway 395 between Lake Los Angeles and Adelanto.
A sixth body was found at the scene Wednesday morning, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez said at a midday news conference. She said the deputies were accompanied by members of the California Highway Patrol's aviation division.

Reports said the dead were shot to death, and images taken by Fox 11 from the scene showed one vehicle, a Navy SUV, riddled with bullet holes. There were yellow police markings surrounding the car, and another vehicle was also found at the scene.
Rodriguez could not reveal the age or gender of the deceased, and police did not release the cause or manner of death. She confirmed that the incident is being treated as a homicide.
“The cause of death, the cause of death, the gunshot wound, etc., have not been determined,” Rodriguez said. “This is a very remote desert area.
“Whatever they find out there in terms of the circumstances surrounding it, it's going to be heartbreaking.”
No arrests have been made.

The bodies of multiple victims were on the ground, with dozens of evidence markers and shell casings surrounding them, KTLA5 reported. Some bodies appeared to have been burned.
