The Smiths' lead guitarist Johnny Marr has called on former President Donald Trump to stop using the band's music at campaign events, becoming the latest pop star to publicly criticize Trump. .
The request comes after ABC News reporter Sulyn Kim posted a video showing The Smiths' music being played ahead of what appeared to be a Trump campaign rally in South Dakota last year. The incident occurred on Tuesday.
“Oh…well…okay. Never in a million years did I think something like this would come true,” the British rocker replied. “Please consider closing now.”

A growing number of pop stars are demanding that President Trump stop using their music at campaign rallies and other events.
They include Linkin Park, Neil Young, Steven Tyler, and Panic! At the Disco, Phil Collins, the Rolling Stones, and even Rihanna.
Trump is not the only Republican politician to draw the ire of left-wing Hollywood pop stars.
As reported by Breitbart News, rapper Eminem has sent a cease-and-desist letter to then-Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswami, asking him to stop performing his songs on the campaign trail.
