Jesse Waters: Almost 250 years ago, the Founding Fathers debated the future of government. The Federalists wanted a strong, centralized federal government. Anti-Federalists such as Thomas Jefferson believed that government power should come from a combination of individual states, and debates between the two sides abounded in city halls and village squares.
The topic was so controversial that swords and bayonets were often drawn. But in the end, the Founding Fathers found a compromise. Some powers, such as regulating trade, were assigned to the federal government. Other powers, such as education, were assigned to state governments, and other powers, such as the power to tax, were also shared. The federal government has the power to wage war, and under Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution, the United States shall protect the states from invasion.
But what if the federal government couldn't protect each state from invasion? Well, the Constitution says the states can protect yourself from invasion When faced with actual invasion or imminent threat. And the Supreme Court agreed, reaffirming in several cases the right of states to use military force in their own defense. Decide for yourself whether the United States is being invaded. Foreigners invade the coast in boats, speed down the coast and disappear into the streets. In other words, these foreigners have no right to invade our country. It's not immigration. What you are seeing on your screen is what would be called an invasion in any country in the world. They say it's not violent, but drugs, sex, human smuggling, and all the crimes and devastation associated with it are. That is what violence is.
