It looks like Anthony Kim's legend is headed for a new chapter.
Cheeky popular golf star I plan to return to the professional ranks. First reported by Golf.com after leaving the PGA Tour nearly 12 years ago.
Kim has been in negotiations with the PGA Tour and LIV Golf over the past several months to discuss next steps with a goal of returning this spring.
One concern for the 38-year-old Kim is that his $10 million insurance policy will be voided if he returns.
LIV Golf initially showed little interest in Kim, but offered her a one-year contract with $10 million in cover, plus prize money and sponsorship cash.
LIV's stance on Kim has changed thanks to lobbying from some top players, including Dustin Johnson, Golf.com reported.
Kim joined the tour in 2006 and won three tournaments from 2008 to 2010, rising to No. 6 in the world.
Kim is a controversial figure among professional players, but he was a key player on the U.S. team that won the Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup in 2008 and 2009. He still holds the record for most birdies in a Masters round with 11 in the second round. Round at Augusta in 2009.
He briefly appeared on “The Tonight Show” and became a pop culture icon thanks to his friendship with Michael Jordan.
Kim then underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon in June 2012 and was expected to be sidelined for a year.

However, since then, reports have surfaced that he has given up on the game altogether, and he has rarely been seen.
Erik Larson, Kim's caddy since his professional days, He spoke about it in a New York Times feature last year.he said he had discussed LIV Golf with Kim and tried to use the new tour as a way to convince him to return to the game.
“He said, 'I don't know.' I really don't know,” Larson told the newspaper. “I said, 'Come on, get rid of the old clubs. Go out there and have fun.'” And he starts laughing at me. He said, “That's what everyone wants from me! ”
Golf.com reported that he is playing more frequently ahead of his return and is ready to give “what everyone wants.”
