Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said the state is preparing for the “unlikely event” that President Biden federalizes the National Guard as tensions over the southern border escalate.

Republican governors in several states have backed Mr. Abbott in his standoff with the federal government.
Abbott told Carlson that the state sends Texas Department of Public Safety agents and “other law enforcement officers” to the border in conjunction with other states' National Guard troops, but more officers would be helpful. said.
The Texas governor said he has not spoken to Biden about the conflict, but in the past he has written letters to the administration “filled with immediate solutions” that do not require passing or signing “new legislation.” provided.
Mr. Abbott said he would be “shocked and disappointed” if the states that pledged to support his efforts did not send National Guard troops to Texas.
