Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid revealed he’s known Taylor Swift for years, but that wasn’t the news Travis Kelce wanted to hear.
Reed, a three-time Super Bowl champion, shared some fond memories of himself and the 12-time Grammy Award winner during his appearance on the show. “Let’s Go!” Podcast with Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald, and Jim Gailey.
When asked what it was like for the Chiefs to have a new fan base thanks to the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker, Reid admitted it’s been a tough journey.
“Yeah, listen, she was amazing,” he said of Swift, 34, before revealing how their paths first crossed.
“I’ve known her for a while from Philadelphia. Her dad [Scott Swift] played with [University of] “He was from Delaware, a big football fan and a good guy,” he said. “So I met him and her there.”
Reid admitted that Kelce, 34, wasn’t too happy to learn that he wasn’t the first member of the Chiefs to meet her.
“The last thing Trav wanted to hear was that I knew her first,” he said. “She said to him, ‘I know your coach.’” And he said, ‘Oh, God, come on! ” he said.
“She’s a good girl. And I’m happy for Trav,” Reid added. “And there was no distraction at all that way.”
“Trav handled it right, she handled it right and we just move forward,” he added. “So there was no problem at all.”
Reid’s comments came after the Chiefs defeated the Baltimore Ravens 17-10 in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.
Swift watched the football game from a VIP suite at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore with close friends Brittany Mahomes, Kelly Sperry and Cara Delevingne.

The “Cardigan” singer was photographed with several celebrities at the game, but her most notable celebration was with Travis.
After the big win, the lovers were caught on camera sharing a sweet kiss on the field before declaring their love for each other.
It remains to be seen whether Swift will attend next month’s Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, as she resumes her hit international tour of Elas in early February.
Swift is scheduled to perform in Tokyo from February 7th to February 10th, the day before Super Bowl III begins on Sunday, February 11th.
The pop star will be on the road for much of 2024, hitting Australia, Singapore and Europe on the Elas Tour in the first half of the year, before heading to Canada in the fall.
