The Samsung Galaxy S24 series has arrived.
This latest version of Samsung’s Galaxy series is the company’s first foray into the world of mobile artificial intelligence and comes with a ton of advanced intelligence features. It also has an upgraded camera and a better battery than previous Galaxy S series phones.
We had a chance to test out the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to see how the phone’s new AI features perform in the real world. Let’s break it down.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra specifications
First and foremost, let’s not get technical. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is big. It boasts a 6.8-inch screen, which is about the same size as a phablet. That said, it feels great in the hand and doesn’t take up much space in your pocket.

Since recycled steel is used in some parts, it has a certain amount of weight, so you can feel safe even if you drop it. The Corning Gorilla Armor screen also provides peace of mind.
As for the screen, the phone features a QHD+, dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Simply put, the video looks great. Streaming 4K video was easy.

AI photo editing
If you’re like me and struggle to take the perfect photo every time, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with generative AI photo editing features. You can select the subject and move it or remove it from the photo completely. It’s very easy with the S Pen. You can use your finger, but I find that using a stylus allows for more precise selections.
However, it’s not perfect. I’m doing a good job of removing objects, but it seems like I’m having a hard time generating backgrounds. In some tests, the areas where I removed objects became jumbled. Also, cleanup can be a bit of a headache if you miss some of the objects you were trying to delete.
However, this is Samsung’s first attempt at a generative AI photo editor. So it’s understandable if it’s still not the best on the market.

Embed AI while using your phone
One of the big goals of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series seems to be to normalize AI into everyday life. This phone is packed with AI features designed to make your tasks more efficient.
Summarize and translate web content in Samsung’s browser
For example, if you use Samsung’s built-in browser, you have the option to summarize and translate articles and web pages. Simply click on the AI option and select the option you want to use. The summary option summarizes the article in a few bullet points, as shown below. Again, it’s not perfect as I haven’t been able to summarize some articles. But generally speaking, it gets the job done.

Chat Assist: Smart editor for messages
The phone also comes with chat assist. This feature is like having a mini editor in your pocket. It analyzes what you’ve written and shows you how to convey your message in different tones, depending on who you’re talking to. If you use Android Auto, it automatically summarizes your messages and suggests replies to help you focus on the road.

It’s been a great experience using this phone for the past few days. I use an iPhone regularly, but I love researching and testing new technology products, and with all the talk about the Samsung Galaxy S24, I was curious to see how it would fare. did. Using Android required a bit of a learning curve. But after a day and a half, operating the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra became easy. This phone is so powerful that I found myself leveraging some AI tools, especially in the Samsung Notes app.
That said, I’d like Samsung to really perfect its AI photo editing and browser overview options. We’re also looking forward to AI integration outside of Samsung’s native apps. Examples include exporting AI tools to Google Chrome and bringing live translation capabilities from phone apps to services like WhatsApp.
