Denver bus shooting leaves man Richard Sanchez dead, teen arrested

Last week, a 13-year-old boy was charged with the murder of a Colorado grandfather who got into an argument after he blocked the path of a public bus. A few days later, when his relatives tried to file a missing persons report, they were informed that the man had died.

Richard Sanchez, 60, was killed in an altercation with a teenage straphanger while riding an RTD bus just a few blocks from his home last Saturday night, according to reports. fox 31.

The shooting occurred around 6:41 p.m. at the intersection of South Federal Boulevard and West Mississippi Avenue, about five miles from the Denver Broncos’ stadium, Empower Field at Mile High.

Sanchez was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Less than a week after the callous killing, police arrested a 13-year-old boy on Thursday in connection with Sanchez’s murder.

Chavez said his grandfather’s senseless killing was “truly heartbreaking” and the whole situation “feels surreal.”

“He was always happy. He was a really happy person,” Chavez said of his beloved.

The teenage suspect is being held for investigation of first-degree murder, police said.

The Denver District Attorney’s Office will make the final decision on charges, the newspaper said.
