(WKBN) – Quaker Oats Company announced on Wednesday announced that it has expanded its nationwide recall of granola bars.
The company has now announced that Quaker Chewy Dips Llama Llama, which was discontinued in September 2023, has been added to the list of previously recalled products.
The reason, as the Quakers cite, is potential “salmonella contamination.”
The “best before” dates of affected products are February 10 or 11, 2024. The products are sold in 50 countries, Puerto Rico, Guam and Saipan, according to the USDA.
The CDC estimates that Salmonella causes about 1.3 million infections each year, of which about 420 people die. The most serious infections often affect children, the elderly, or people with weakened immune systems.
Symptoms of salmonella begin within six days of ingesting contaminated food and include diarrhea, fever, abdominal pain, and sometimes nausea, vomiting, and headache. People who are experiencing more severe symptoms, such as dehydration, prolonged vomiting, prolonged diarrhea, or diarrhea accompanied by a fever of 102 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, should contact their doctor immediately.
More information about Salmonella infections can be found at Quaker’s. Recall notice or in CDC website.
This recall is an expansion of a previous recall. Published on December 15th and January 11th This includes granola bars, cereals, snack boxes/mixes, Cap’n Crunch products, and more. A complete list of Quaker’s recalled products is below. Found on the company’s website.
