Pebble Beach final round canceled, Wyndham Clark declared 54-hole winner

The 2024 version of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is historic in more ways than one. Windham Clark set a course record with a 12-under 60 on Saturday.

This propelled him up the leaderboard and into the lead heading into the final round. At least, that’s what it seemed like.

Instead, he was declared the winner of the tournament.

Late Sunday night, the PGA Tour communications team released information that the final 18 holes had been completed. not played.

“Storms impacting the Monterey Peninsula throughout the day Sunday are expected to continue into early Monday morning with very strong winds. Conditions are expected to improve through Monday morning, but Monterey County emergency officials… After consultation, we have implemented a shelter-in-place order for the entire Pebble Beach area until early tomorrow morning, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of all residents, there will be no games on Monday.

Therefore, pursuant to PGA Tour regulations, tournament results are final at the end of 54 holes. ” reads the statement.

The last time a PGA Tour event was shortened was the Zurich Classic in 2016.

Winds gusted all day Sunday, reaching speeds of 130 miles per hour. Thousands of people in the area are without power. Video of waves crashing on the Pebble Beach fairway went viral earlier in the day.

Knowing the amount of water taken to the course earlier this week, it is highly unlikely that it will be considered playable in the near future.

It’s very likely that Clark doesn’t want to win this way. But a win is a win and it’s great to have this.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been designated as one of eight signature events for the 2024 PGA Tour season. Along with it, Clark will receive a $20 million purse, of which $3.5 million will go home.
