Family of Michigan woman mysteriously killed in her home demand DNA testing: ‘Dumbfounded’

Megan Drumhiller, a 31-year-old Michigan woman, had just returned home after spending three weeks on vacation with her family when she was found dead on January 28, 2022.

More than two years later, there has been little movement in Drumhiller’s murder case, but Drumhiller’s parents are offering a $100,000 reward for information that could lead to his arrest.

“Megan was very open with us. We had access to everything: passwords, medical records, credit card statements, phone calls, call logs,” her mother Lynette Drumhiller told Fox News Digital. Told. ”[Authorities] There was a lot within 24 hours. I was so naive…I truly believed I would be arrested within a few days. ”

The family is still waiting for key items collected from the crime scene at Drumhiller’s Carrollton Township home to be processed as DNA evidence.

The 31-year-old man died of asphyxiation, a family spokesperson told FOX News Digital.

Drumhiller’s parents believe Drumhiller’s murder suspects may be walking freely among civilians.

This lawsuit raised one issue after another. first, Carrollton County Police Department Drumhiller’s parents said Michigan State Police, which took over the investigation hours after first responders arrived, interviewed all witnesses and examined all camera evidence immediately after Drumhiller’s body was discovered. He said he was unable to do so.

Later, the family stated that the lead detective on the case apparently worked remotely for “four or five months” after the case began due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, and rarely visited the crime scene in person.

At one point, police called Drumhillers to falsely report the DNA of a second woman found at the crime scene.

“There was a time when there was a misdiagnosis along the way and we were told there was DNA from an unknown woman at the scene,” Tim Drumhiller said. “And it was such a big deal that we got a call from the detective, we got a call from everyone involved, and they said it looked like another woman was involved in this crime…and we… was shocked.”

A detective then called the family to apologize and tell them that the DNA was not actually that of the second woman, but rather that of Drumhiller, who was not immediately isolated.

The Saginaw County Sheriff’s Office is currently the lead agency in this case. FOX News Digital has reached out to the Carrollton Township Police Department, Michigan State Police and Sheriff’s Office for comment.

While the Drumhillers’ primary concern is finding out what happened to their daughter, another concern is that other murder victim families may be facing similar challenges in solving their cases. It is a belief that there is.

“This is happening on a national level,” said Tim Drumhiller, noting that the FBI has a homicide clearance rate of less than 50% in the United States. “But frankly, when it’s happening to you, that’s all you care about. … At times it felt like the deck was stacked against us specifically. .”

Lynette Drumhiller said she sometimes feels like authorities are “nagging and bothering her.”

Drumhiller was a friendly, quirky and intelligent woman who loved dancing and writing, her parents told Fox News Digital. At the time of her death, she was working in retail and living in a somewhat rural area where many of her family members lived.
