Dramatic video showed the plane carrying 185 people sliding down an icy runway onto muddy grass before returning to orbit.
An Avion Express Airbus A320-200 landed at Vilnius Airport in Lithuania on Saturday after a flight from Italy and conducted a so-called “runway tour.” The Aviation Herald reported..
Flight X9-8242, carrying 179 passengers and six crew members, veered off the runway, ran onto soft ground, and skidded across a turnoff. The aircraft finally returned to the centerline of the runway, where it was found covered in mud.
The funny footage of the incident is Shared by @AFlyGuyTravels on X, which publishes content related to the aviation industry. VASAviation also posted communications between air traffic controllers and pilots.
“We saw you veer off the runway,” the controller told him in Lithuanian.
“Really, certainly,” the pilot replied, somewhat sarcastically, after not first advising the tower about the accident.
No one was injured in the incident, and the plane proceeded to a parking lot where passengers deplaned.
According to reports, the airport was forced to suspend all operations for several hours.
