Texas woman goes missing after stopping to buy food for a homeless man and is found 400 miles away at the border

Texas police say a missing woman has been found at the Mexican border. she was kidnapped by a homeless man she was trying to help.

Lacey Lynn Orbee was reported missing in DeSoto by her family Thursday afternoon.

Overby’s daughter said the 37-year-old registered nurse was on the phone when she tried to buy food for a homeless man. Family members said they heard a commotion before the call ended.

Police have issued an alert for the missing woman, who was last seen buying food for a homeless man at Taco Casa in Lancaster around 3:30 p.m.

Late that day, she was found by police at the International Bridge at the Laredo Port of Entry, 400 miles away.

Reportedly, she called Police said she had been kidnapped and her kidnapper was still in the car. No one else was in the 2015 silver Chevrolet Malibu when police found the woman.

“Mr. Overby was driving at the time, but it is unclear whether a deadly weapon was used,” said Lt. Chris Huerta of the DeSoto Police Department.

“When law enforcement contacted her last night, she was clearly very shaken up. To ensure her safety, she underwent a medical check to make sure she was OK.” he added. “I can tell you that her family is with her at this time.”

She was able to give police a description of the man, described as a bald Hispanic man between the ages of 25 and 35.

The woman was found safe and reunited with her family. Police have not made any arrests and are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
