Chancellor Rishi Sunak on Tuesday weighed in on King Charles’ shocking cancer diagnosis, saying he was grateful the disease was “caught early”.

Buckingham Palace said on Monday that Prince Charles, 75, who has been on the throne for less than 15 months, was suffering from “some form of cancer” which was discovered a week ago during surgery for enlarged prostate. .

The palace did not provide further details about Prince Charles’ condition, only confirming that he did not have prostate cancer.

“His Majesty today began his regular medical treatment schedule, during which time doctors have advised him to postpone official duties,” the palace said in a statement. “During this period, His Majesty will continue to carry out his state and official duties as normal.”

Charles spent the night at his London home, Clarence House, after starting a series of outpatient treatments.

Palace sources said the king remained “completely positive” and looked forward to returning to royal duties as soon as possible.

Prince Harry is expected to arrive in London by noon local time to be by his father’s side after rushing to LAX to catch an emergency flight on Monday.
