“America’s pastime” is no longer a sport played on a diamond, but rather a sport played on bars.
According to a Pew Research Center survey, Americans believe that football, not baseball, is “America’s sport,” and the difference is wide.
The survey surveyed 12,000 adults and asked, “If you had to choose one ‘American sport,’ even if you personally have no interest in that sport, which sport would it be? ?” he asked.
This question comes from an extensive survey of sports fans across the United States, which found that 53% of Americans believe football is America’s sport. Baseball was next with him at 27%.
The rest of the list is made up of basketball (8%), soccer (3%), auto racing (3%), hockey (1%), and “other” (2%).
The “Other Stuff” section was Pew Research Center and allowed researchers to write about other sports if they wanted. Golf, boxing, rodeo, etc. were mentioned.
Furthermore, when it comes to soccer, soccer is being trounced across all major demographics in the country: men and women, old and young, and ethnicities such as white, black, Hispanic, and Asian American. was found in the investigation.
But while the survey said football is the national sport, that doesn’t mean the NFL is top of mind for 12,000 Americans.
The survey found that 62% of U.S. adults say they don’t follow professional or college sports closely, if at all. It also found that 63% of these adults talk about sports with others “several times a month or less often.”
Only 7% of adults considered themselves to be sports “super fans.” This falls under the category of people who often talk about sports with others and follow the most popular leagues.
