The U.S. Court of Appeals ruled against Donald Trump on Thursday.

“We balanced former President Trump’s stated interests in presidential immunity with the important public interest in allowing this prosecution to proceed,” the ruling said.

The Epoch Times reported:

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ruled on February 6 that former President Donald Trump is not immune from prosecution for conduct the Department of Justice (DOJ) included in an indictment related to the events of January 6, 2021. It was decided that

“We balanced the benefits of executive immunity claimed by former President Trump with the important public interest in allowing this prosecution to proceed,” the ruling reads.

“We conclude that:”[c]”Public policy considerations, especially given our nation’s history and the structure of our government, compel us to deny his claim for immunity in this case,” the justices added, citing precedent.

The appeal was heard by Justice Karen Henderson, Justice Michelle Childs and Justice Florence Pan. The decision was unanimous.

Donald Trump has said he plans to appeal the decision.
