Barrasso defended the Republican face of the negotiations, Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.), saying he has “worked relentlessly to turn the tide of this crisis.”

Barrasso’s statement follows a number of other Republican senators expressing opposition to the border bill, including but not limited to Sen. tom cotton (R-AR), rand paul (R-Kentucky), mike lee (R-UT), JD Vance (R-OH), marsha blackburn (R-TN), and steve daines (R-MT).
Former President Donald Trump also spoke out about the bill, calling it “horrible.”

He said on Truth Social that the bill is “a great gift to Democrats and a death wish to Republicans.”
