Prominent Colorado Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has been granted a temporary restraining order against her ex-husband after a series of family incidents led to direct police involvement.

On Monday, a Garfield County judge granted a request for a restraining order against her ex-husband, Jason Boebert, on behalf of Boebert and the couple’s three minor boys.inside document Rep. Boebert sought a restraining order, alleging that Jason had “made multiple threats of suicide and threats of harm.” [her] Over the past 14 months. ”

Court documents cite three recent events that triggered the law enforcement investigation. First, police were called after a couple got into a heated argument at a restaurant in Silt, Colorado, in early January. Jason told police that night that he was a “victim of domestic violence,” but a spokesperson for his agency later said Lauren Boebert was simply accusing Jason of being “disrespectful” and “aggressive.” He claimed that he only pushed Jason away to stop him from making advances.

Jason Boebert was later arrested in connection with the incident and charged with third-degree assault, prohibited use of a weapon, interfering with a peace officer, harassment, disorderly conduct, and third-degree trespassing.

“I would never hurt Lauren. I just want to move on and be at peace,” Jason told The Associated Press.

Three days after the incident at the restaurant, Jason got into an argument with the couple’s 18-year-old son, Tyler Boebert. During the argument, Jason Boebert, who was intoxicated, allegedly shoved his thumb into Tyler’s mouth with such force that it “knocked out a tooth,” according to a police report.

Tyler then called police. While Jason was on the phone, he allegedly grabbed a rifle and left the scene. Jason was later arrested and charged with harassment, prohibited use of a weapon, and third-degree assault. Lauren Boebert was not present during the fight, the Associated Press reported.

Finally, court documents filed by Lauren Boebert claimed that Jason broke into the home where Lauren lived in Silt last Friday. While at her home, he allegedly destroyed or otherwise removed some of her belongings.

Jason claimed he was just there to clean up the place because “her grandma” was coming. Lauren also approached the court to “justify” running for Congress in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, rather than running for re-election in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, where she has served for the past three years. He also claimed that he was taking advantage of the ban.

of temporary restraining order It requires Jason to stay at least 100 meters away from Lauren and the couple’s three minor children and not make any other efforts to contact them. The restraining order could become permanent at a hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Jason and Lauren Boebert were married in 2005 and have four sons, one of whom is now an adult, and one grandchild. The two divorced last year, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
