Javier Milei: We Cannot Be Silent Against ‘the New Nazism,’ Hamas

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL – Argentine President Javier Millay on Wednesday called the Palestinian terror group Hamas “the face of modern Nazism” and appealed to the free world to speak out after a visit to Israel’s Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem. Ta.

Millay visited Yad Vashem on the second day of a four-day visit to Israel. He laid a wreath of remembrance at the Eternal Flame in Yad Vashem’s Memorial Hall, honoring the victims of the Holocaust.

He also expressed solidarity with the victims of the October 7 terrorist attack and with the Israeli hostages left in Hamas’ hands in the Gaza Strip.

“I look at the horrific images of the Holocaust and ask myself where the free world was then. And today I ask myself the exact same question. Over 100 people have already been kidnapped for over 100 days Where are the voices of the free world crying out and demanding the liberation of the peoples of the world?

“We should not be silent in the face of the monster that is Nazism. Similarly, we should not be silent in the face of modern Nazism, which today masquerades as the terrorist organization Hamas.”

Millais also said she drew inspiration from the way Israel has built a free and prosperous society despite the devastation of the Holocaust. He emphasized the role of freedom in Israel’s rebirth and cited Talmudic stories in which destruction is reinterpreted as a sign of hope for salvation.

A visit to Yad Vashem is part of the official itinerary for visiting dignitaries. But Millay’s visit is special. The libertarian president has a unique connection to Israel and the Jewish people, one he has forged through his strong interest in the Jewish faith.

Milley made it clear during last year’s election campaign that she wanted to go to Israel for her first state visit abroad. Arriving in Tel Aviv on Tuesday afternoon, he went straight to Jerusalem’s Western Wall, Judaism’s holiest site, where he prayed and wept.

At the wreath-laying ceremony, a choir sang the folk song “Eli, Eli” (“My God, My God”), the lyrics of which were taken from a poem written by the late Hanna Senes, a Hungarian-born Jewish woman who settled in Palestine. It is coming. He volunteered as a paratrooper on a secret British mission to rescue Jews captured in Eastern Europe before Israel became an independent state. She was captured, tortured, and murdered by the Nazis.

But despite the heavy themes and gloomy setting, it wasn’t all sad. A group of Argentine students touring Yad Vashem recognized the president and joyfully shouted his famous slogan at him. “Please live freely, Karaho!” (“Long live freedom, dammit!”).
